Toya Jones Frank is an associate professor in the Mathematics Education Leadership and Secondary Education programs at George Mason University (GMU). She is currently on leave from GMU to serve in a rotator Program Officer (PO) position at the National Science Foundation, where she serves as co-lead of the Racial Equity in STEM Education program, as well as a PO on other programs. Her research agenda focuses on secondary mathematics teacher preparation and issues of access and equity for underrepresented students. Her current research explores how race as well as other sociocultural and sociopolitical influences that impact their recruitment and retention. Frank is a former high school mathematics teacher and department chair. She has also been an educational consultant for clients including DC Public Schools and ACT, Inc. She holds a doctorate in Mathematics Education from the University of Maryland, College Park.
