Fostering Indigenous STEM Identity Harmony through Online and In-Person Interventions
Description

The American Indian Science and Engineering Society Lighting the Pathway to Faculty Careers (AISES LTP) has a proven success record, with 93.48% (N=182) of participants persisting in career trajectories toward STEM faculty careers. However, the program is resource-intensive, which limits the number of program participants.Using the Tripartite Integration Model of Social Influence (TIMSI), we examined identity harmony between STEM and Indigenous identities. A quasi-experimental study with 165 Indigenous scholars compared full, modified, and no intervention groups. Results showed significant differences in identity harmony, with the full intervention group showing lower scores, highlighting the need to understand the impact of program components on identity harmony.
