Dr. Kanoho Hosoda is an assistant professor and director of the Native Hawaiian Center of Excellence at the University of Hawaii’s John A. Burns School of Medicine. She is invested in a paradigm shift towards the incorporation of Indigenous knowledge in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine (STEMM). Dr. Hosoda has unique insights on Indigenous peoples' success in STEM as she has worked as a Native Hawaiian science educator in K-8 classrooms, federal agencies, and higher education. Dr. Hosoda employs quantitative research methods to validate culturally-relevant measures for Indigenous populations, advancing the science of mentorship and inclusion. Dr. Hosoda’s goal is to grow a research program that informs interventions and programs that support and amplify the knowledge of Indigenous scholars pursuing biomedical science careers.
