Dr. Shannon Timmons is an associate professor of chemistry and chairperson of the Department of Natural Sciences at Lawrence Technological University (LTU). She loves teaching organic chemistry and biochemistry courses as well as supervising undergraduate student research projects in the interdisciplinary fields of bioorganic and medicinal chemistry. The Timmons laboratory is currently focused on a collaborative NIH-funded toxicology project aimed at identifying endocrine-disrupting chemicals and ultimately creating safer plastics. In addition, Dr. Timmons is passionate about pedagogical reform and fostering student success. She currently serves on the leadership team of LTU’s HHMI-funded Inclusive Excellence grant project, which is focused on the development and implementation of course-based undergraduate research experiences as a tool to promote inclusivity and equity.
